Welcome to the 'About Me' page of Tromba teaching & translations. Here, I share my passion for language and my drive to support you with high-quality translations, interpreting services, and language instruction in Ukrainian, Russian, and English. On this page I will tell you a bit about my background, education and qualifications.
Ukrainian & Russian
My name is Olena Tromba, and I was born in the heart of Ukraine. In Ukraine, both Ukrainian and Russian are spoken.
Ukrainian and Russian both belong to the Slavic language family, but within that family, they are two distinct languages, each with its own grammar, spelling, and pronunciation.
Almost half of the vocabulary of these languages differs from eachother, and even the alphabets are not completely alike.
Growing up in Ukraine, I learnt both languages. I am a native speaker of both languages and consider myself bilingual.
English
I studied English at Chmelnytsky University for six years, including a specialization year for teaching and translating.
The Netherlands Universities Foundation for International Cooperation (Nuffic) has recognized my diplomas as a double Master's degree.
The four-year Bachelor's degree followed by the specialization year was recognized as a Master's degree, and my subsequent and final Master year was recognized as a seperate (second) Master's degree.
Qualifications
The Bachelor's degree, the postgraduate specialization degree, and the Master's degree were all completed with honours.
The Dutch Ministry of Education has granted me a first-degree teaching qualification in English.
I am one of ten people in The Netherlands who are sworn in and authorized by the Dutch court to make official and legally valid translations from Ukrainian into English.
I live in The Netherlands (near The Hague) since 2026.
